First things first, this game is FUN. Boiled down, DOOM Eternal is basically: Find guns, kill demons in style. This time around, you’re trying to stop the Demons from ruling Earth. Here's what you need to know:
Bigger and Better
Enjoy the first DOOM in ٢٠١٦? DOOM Eternal not only is longer (١٣ hour campaign vs ~٢٢ hour campaign) but the maps themselves are much larger!
More guns, more fun, more glory.
No found resources? No Problem!
Down to a sliver of health with no health, armor, or ammo around? Find some enemies! In DOOM Eternal, you can destroy your enemies in certain ways to drop resources.
For example, chainsawing some folks will result in ammo shooting out of them, while performing a finisher will release life-saving health potions, and setting them on fire will give you armor.

Difficulty can be fine-tuned.
Looking to murder some demons with varying amounts of stress? DOOM Eternal offers four distinct difficulty settings ranging from: “I’m Too Young to Die” to “Ultra-Nightmare.” Depending on your mood and experience, you can switch to any of these mid-game to suit your playstyle.
Battlemode - L4D Versus Mode Lite
A welcome addition to the DOOM franchise, Battlemode is a new 1v2 game mode where one player (playing as Doom Guy) faces two other players (playing as special Demons) in a five-round frenzy.
Each round, the Demons can set traps and send lesser-demons in their mission to kill the Doom Guy. Meanwhile, Doom Guy has to kill both player-demons, utilizing every loadout feature from the campaign.
At the end of each round, players are able to upgrade their respective perks and abilities to keep things interesting.
A quick pro-tip: Finish (or atleast start) the campaign before playing! Knowing how Doom Guy’s loadout works along with each demon’s pros/cons will help your game here.
Upgrade your ammo capacity ASAP!
In my experience, running out of ammo was one of my biggest causes of death, especially in the higher difficulty levels. Upgrading your ammo will allow you to annihilate enemies with less pause and prepare you more for the late game.
Move, move, move!
Run and gunning is the lifeblood of this game. Doom Guy isn’t invincible, so staying on your feet to escape every fireball is essential! Keeping on the move will keep the damage down, but ultimately, you’re gonna be hurting regardless. Chain finishers if possible to get resources from enemy to enemy, as any standing-still time can be deadly.
Dying is a part of the game.
Running and gunning around in Doom Eternal may seem easy, but it’s more than likely you’ll die at some encounter in-game: that’s okay! This game was meant to be difficult, so dying is a part of the process. Try a different path on your next life or take a more careful approach with your resources!
Platforming May be Finicky
Doom Eternal has added tricky platforming elements to the game that require double dashes and jumps to pass them.
Can’t make a particular jump? Are you falling to your death? No problem, just take your time with each jump/dash. Get the most distance you can from each before double-jumping or double-dashing to get to that next section. With practice, you’ll know immediately if you can make certain distances.
